CRW imports from many countries in Europe and Asia, notably China, Italy, Turkey, Australia, South Africa, Portugal and Taiwan. CRW has a large construction department for manufacture of walk-in cool rooms and freezer rooms, from new and second hand materials (traditional coloursteel/polystyrene panels and sliplock polyeurethane panels) to build ex-yard - portable format or on location.

Hire Cool was formed in 1981 in Christchurch to meet the needs of businesses who needed refrigeration equipment, but did not want to buy. The company has moved premises twice since inception from St Asaph Street, where the company originated to Vienna Street in the early 1990s. In 1998 the company moved to its current location in Waltham Road.
